Barium Fluoride BaF2
Barium Fluoride (BaF2) is used in UV and IR spectroscopy due to the transmission in range from 0.2 to 11μm. At an equivalent thickness, transmission extends about 1 micron farther in the IR than calcium fluoride. Barium Fluoride (BaF2) is very sensitive to mechanical and thermal shock. Distinguish IR and UV grades of Barium Fluoride BaF2. BaF2 IR grade may has restricted transmission in the VUV being made from lower purity BaF2 crystal. Barium Fluoride is less resistant to water than Calcium Fluoride but still can be used up to 800°C in low humidity air.
Novotech has the capacity to perform diamond turning, polishing, and custom manufacturing for all size orders from prototype to production quantity.
